Hot Whiskey with Autumn Spices
A warming Irish whiskey cocktail infused with autumn spices, lemon, and rosemary. Simple to make with optional honey for sweetness. Perfect for cold evenings.
A vibrant, tropical cocktail with zesty vodka, passion fruit liqueur, pineapple juice, and a hint of vanilla. Smooth, fruity, and sharp — brilliant for entertaining.
The passion fruit martini has become one of the most popular cocktails you'll find on a menu, and for good reason. It's a good balance of sharp and sweet — the lime juice cuts through the richness of the vanilla syrup, and the passion fruit liqueur brings that distinct tropical flavour without being overpowering. Pineapple juice rounds everything out and gives the cocktail a light, frothy texture when shaken properly.
Shaking the cocktail hard for a full 15 to 20 seconds is what gives the passion fruit martini its characteristic frothy top — don't rush it.
This recipe uses a parts-based ratio, so it scales up easily whether you're making one glass or a batch for a group. The balance of the ingredients stays consistent regardless of how many you're making.
Getting the ratios right is what makes this cocktail work. The vodka provides the backbone — use a clean, unflavoured vodka rather than anything too characterful, as you want the passion fruit and pineapple to do the talking. The vanilla syrup adds a gentle sweetness that ties the tropical notes together, and it's worth making your own if you have the time, though a good-quality shop-bought syrup works perfectly well.
Chilling the glass before you pour is one of those small steps that genuinely makes a difference. A cold coupe or martini glass keeps the drink at the right temperature from the first sip to the last. For the garnish, a fresh passion fruit half balanced on the rim or floated on top of the drink looks the part and gives guests a clue as to what they're drinking. If you want to make these for a party, you can pre-mix the liquids (without ice) and shake individual portions to order — that way everything stays fresh and properly chilled.
Serve in a chilled coupe or martini glass, garnished with half a fresh passion fruit. For a celebratory touch, serve a small shot of chilled Prosecco on the side to pour into the cocktail at the table.
For a non-alcoholic version, replace the vodka with sparkling water or coconut water and swap the passion fruit liqueur for pure passion fruit juice. You can also try adding a small measure of coconut cream for a creamier, more tropical variation.
